Allows private and public workers in businesses with 10 or more employees to earn one hour of paid sick and safe leave for every 40 hours worked, up to 52 hours annually. Employees in a business with fewer than 10 employees earn one hour of paid sick and safe leave for every 80 hours worked, up to 26 hours annually. Employees may carry over up to 40 unused hours to the next year.
Leave may be taken for the worker's own mental or physical illness, injury, health condition or preventive care, or for those of a spouse, child, parent, grandparent, extended family member, legal ward, legal guardian person with whom the employee is or was in a relationship of in loco parentis, or any other person in a family-equivalent relationship. It may also be used for the employee or family member (not including a person in a family-equivalent relationship) to obtain services to address the effects of domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking.
